Reliable News Sources

Here at Attrition Coalition our driving force is to make activism easy. As part of that, we are committed to providing enough information on our Action Items to inform our audience as to what the issue is, why this is important, how to take action and affect change, and links to reputable news sources if they would like to learn more about that particular issue.

This election cycle has seen an influx of ‘fake news’ like never before, and much of the post election analysis has focused on the proliferation of the fake news into social media and thus household conversations. While we obviously can’t put a stop to that in the larger world, we can control what sources we consider valid for Attrition Coalition Calls to Action. This list is based largely on two sources:

  1. Professor Melissa Zimdars at Merrimack College put together a resource for her students to help them identify false, misleading clickbait-y and/or satirical news. She also wrote an op-ed for the Washington Post about fake news, and why she created this guide for her students.
  2. A blog called allgeneralizationsarefalse.com has an amazing and incredibly well researched graphic plotting Journalistic Quality vs. Partisan Bias. (read about her reasoning/ methodology here).

This list will likely grow/change over time, but for our Calls to Action we will rely on the following news sources (in no particular order):
